Scotiabank AIDS Walk For Life - September 16, 2012
Over $20,000 raised for the four counties.
More than 100 people lit up the streets of downtown Peterborough for the Scotiabank AIDS Walk For Life on Sunday, September 16, 2012, raising more than $20,000 in the process. The funds raised will support essential services for people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS in City of Kawartha Lakes, Haliburton, Northumberland, and Peterborough Counties through PARN – Your Community AIDS Resource Network.
“I want to thank everyone who made the Walk such a special night here in Peterborough,” says Kim Dolan, Executive Director at PARN. “Having so many supporters take to the streets for the candlelit walk really sends a strong message in our community. It lets people living with HIV know that there are people who care passionately about helping build a safer and more caring community, and shows the wider community that this epidemic still needs to be addressed in Peterborough and the Four Counties.”
Funds raised by the Walk will help PARN provide prevention and education programs in Peterborough and the four counties, as well as counselling and support for people living with HIV/AIDS and their loved ones.
